Redesign a real street

Drop in a satellite screenshot of any street on Earth, set the scale, and restripe it — bike lanes, bus lanes, roundabouts — with presets drawn at true real-world widths.

01Search any street and capture it straight from satellite imagery — the scale sets itself. Or load / paste (⌘V) a screenshot.
02Pasted a screenshot instead? Calibrate: click two points a known distance apart.
03Place presets over the road, tune lanes in meters, export the before / after.

Real-world distance

How long is the line you just drew, in meters? (A car ≈ 4.5 m, a lane ≈ 3.3 m, a city bus ≈ 12 m.)

About Restripe

An open, self-contained street-redesign studio. Everything you draw is drawn in real-world meters; your designs and exports are yours to use freely.

Imagery. Satellite tiles are © Esri — Maxar, Earthstar Geographics. They are suitable for light personal, educational, and advocacy use with attribution, which Restripe keeps on-screen and stamps onto exported images. Heavy or commercial use of the imagery service requires your own ArcGIS licensing. Screenshots you paste from other providers (e.g., Google Maps) remain subject to those providers' terms.

Search. Place search is provided by OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service — © OpenStreetMap contributors, intended for light use.

Simulation. To test a design with traffic, pair Restripe with Eclipse SUMO (EPL-2.0) or A/B Street — both free and open source. Files you create for them carry no license obligations.

Live map capture is blocked on this hosted page

The claude.ai artifact sandbox doesn't allow loading map tiles from the web. Two easy alternatives:

Paste a screenshot (⌘V) from any satellite map, then use Calibrate scale — two clicks on a known distance.

Or open your local copy of restripe.html, where map capture and auto-scale work fully.
